ARTIST STATEMENT
⾔葉は⼈間と話す為のもの
もっと⽣命の根源的エネルギーと触れあいたいから 絵を描く
「描く」という⾏為の⾔語化できない衝動には
植物たちが⽣き延びるために
蔦や葉を伸ばしてゆくものと似た切実さがあるように感じている
スギサキハルナ Haruna Sugisaki
美術家 1994年 神奈川県 横浜生まれ大磯在住
訪れた土地の自然素材を用いてその場所の記憶を刻む絵画やインスタレーション作品を制作している。草木や花びらから抽出した染液、海岸の貝や鉱物、民家のストーブに残る煤、森に降り積もった土。これらはその土地が持つ固有の「色」として作品の中に息づく。顔料や支持体となる和紙を作り出す過程の中でその地の土地や地域と向き合い制作の中で対話を試みる。
代表作には訪れた土地で採取した自然素材を顔料化し、地域住民や学生と協働して絵画を制作する《Becoming the Land》がある。
The artist creates paintings and installation works that inscribe the memory of a place by using natural materials gathered from the land she visits. Dye liquids extracted from plants and petals, shells and minerals collected along the shore, soot remaining in the stoves of local homes, and soil that has settled quietly on the forest floor—each of these elements breathes within the work as a unique “color” belonging to that particular place. Through the process of producing pigments and handmade washi paper that serve as the support for the works, the artist engages with the land and its community, attempting a dialogue through the act of making.
One of her representative works, Becoming the Land, involves transforming natural materials collected from a visited location into pigments and collaborating with local residents and students to create paintings together.
