ARTIST STATEMENT
人間、機械、自然、社会。これらの境界が曖昧に溶け合う現代において、
人間中心の尺度を一度手放し非人間的な存在との共生のあり方を探る。
各地の風土に埋もれ、消えゆく技法や伝承。
それらを掘り起こし、現代におけるアニミズム的な観点から絵画へと転換を試みる。
失われつつある古の知恵を現代の批評軸として再定義すること。
それは、現代社会における生のあり方を問い直すための問いかけである。
Humans, machines, nature, society. In this modern age where the boundaries between these elements blur and converge, we set aside human-centered perspectives to explore ways of coexisting with non-human entities.
Techniques and traditions buried within local cultures, slowly fading into obscurity. We unearth these and seek to transform them into paintings through a contemporary animistic lens.
Redefining ancient wisdom now in the process of being lost — as a framework for contemporary critique. This is a call to reexamine the nature of life in modern society.
スギサキハルナ Haruna Sugisaki
美術家 1994年神奈川県生まれ 東京造形大学絵画科卒業
2021年から神奈川県大磯町(日本)を拠点に活動
森の土、草木や花びらから採れる染液、海岸の貝や鉱物、民家の煤など、その場所に存在する物質を「土地の色」として採集し作品表現に取り込む。訪れた土地の自然素材を収集し、地域に受け継がれた伝統・伝承・手仕事をリサーチおよびアーカイブを行い、そこから得た技法を制作に活用する。顔料や支持体を自然物から生み出すプロセス自体を、自然環境・地域文化・そこに生きる人々との対話の場として位置づけ、絵画,インスタレーション,リレーショナル・アートといった形式で発表している。
代表作に、現地で採取した自然素材を顔料化し地域住民や学生たちと協働して絵画を制作する《Becoming the Land》がある。
Materials present in each place visited—forest soil, dye extracts from plants and flower petals, seashells and minerals from the coast, and soot from traditional homes—are collected and incorporated into the work as "the colors of the land." Natural materials gathered from these locations form the basis of ongoing research and archiving of the traditions, folklore, and crafts passed down in each region, with the techniques learned applied to the practice. The very process of generating pigments and supports from natural materials is positioned as a space for dialogue with the natural environment, local culture, and the people who live there—manifesting in formats such as painting, installation, and relational art.
One such work is Becoming the Land, in which natural materials collected on-site are transformed into pigments and used to create paintings in collaboration with local residents and students.
